…but I was never in the service.

The origin came from a close friend & roommate who actually flipped a nickname I gave him back on me.

I used to sing/rap his name to that P. Diddy song D-I-D-D-Y to annoy him…he couldn’t come up with anything more clever, so he just parroted it back at me…and I guess his delivery was better, because people started addressing me as such when we were at parties, etc.

No one really calls me that anymore, but it works in a pinch if I need a handle online…plus he passed away in a car wreck, so it’s kind of a way I keep his memory alive.
