RUNNIN' UTES RUN BY ARIZONA STATE

6e0s9e_medium

Woohoo! Utah basketball picks up another victory, destroying the Arizona St. Sun Devils by 21 points! It's their second conference win of the season and it means, for the time being, they're a full TWO GAMES ahead of USC in the win column - who's stuck in the cellar of the conference.

We're not worst! We're not worst!

Jiggy who?

But seriously, if we can win games even with him gone, that bodes well for the growth of the young guys.

Well Played Utes!!!

1 game to get over the Jiggy Dismissal (AZ) and we come back with that beatdown??!!

Coach K, you got them on the right track. Keep this up and we will break into the top 250 soon.

I feel darn good about the future. Now go and slap USC around. And play well against UCLA, that would be just fine.

I've been hiding for a day

Very very very pissed. And I despise Notre Dame on so many levels, I’ve always hated them more than the TDS. I threw an old computer against the wall.

Go Cuse. Go Utes. Go Kings (hockey version). Go Panthers (hockey version). Go Marlins. Go Dodgers. I despise the NFL and NBA, so don't bore me.

I knew they could do it

Now sweep the LA schools! Are the games in SLC?

Kareem
  1. Kareem Storey. Such “dirty” passing. Such a phenomenal first step too. This kid looked like an impressive court manager today.

This saddens me...

…because wins like this mean no more vitriol filled back & forth between Comrade Crimson & Luey…

-

…but seriously, it’s getting hard to doubt Coach Krisko…he cuts the best player, & we win running away. He keeps getting a longer leash with these wins.

Agree

Coach K is certainly looking comfortable. The team is finally coming together too.

Seems like

the partial cure was cutting away the team ‘cancer’.

Good win.

So as a former season ticket holder

Who had to give it up because I couldn’t stand the pain . . .is it time to start watching again? Sounds like coach (K2?) is doing some good things . . . with very little to work. Reminds me somewhat of a certain fat man when he first came on board many years ago.

I'm sure there will still be a lot of pain...

Since I don’t think this team is very good. We’ll probably lose a lot more of the games, so I don’t know if you’d be up for that. But when nights like this happen, it makes the pain somewhat worth it.

Don't mind watching a team lose

It’s the poorly played basketball that sucks – whatever the talent.

Without Watson?

And with the lamented Coach K?

Really?

As much as I like Larry K from his days playing in the big sky on, and as much as I supported his hire, give him a couple years, then we shall see is he a keeper or not. Wins now are special becaus ewe suck, this painful year and likely next as well are our payment for a brighter future—let us hope.

Exciting game.

the Larry K haters are spinning this to the fact that ASU’s players have quit. that may be the case, but you can’t deny that this team is playing hard every single time they take the court. There will be nights when the talent level is simply too much, but i am proud of this team, and of Larry.

There are Larry K haters?

I’m not a big basketball fan… but this team has very, very little talent and has managed to compete (in the ‘try really hard’ sense of the term). It’s a remarkable achievement, particularly if he can get the same effort out of top-shelf talent.

ever read Comrade Crimsons blog?

at crimsonscorner.com? He is a passionate Ute fan, but he absolutely hates Larry. How he dealt with players when he got here rubbed him the wrong way and he will not give Larry credit for anything.

Doubts and questions are one thing...

but seeing steady progress as we have since the woefull beginning of this season is another. I don’t know squat about B-ball other than from being an observer of one talented (and sizeable) guy since he could hold one. I am absolutely sure of two things… Utah has the coach they’ve been longing for and rising curve will be steep. The deeper the critics reach for ammunition the more foolish they appear. Everyone has an agenda no matter how strange it seems to others… so a pass to (most) haters until they they fade out by attrition. Go Utes!!! I am very optimistic about this road twip!!

by luey123 on Jan 23, 2012 7:18 PM MST up reply actions

agreed.

as Larry starts to turn this thing around, the haters will become more scarce and they will fade into the background.

This just in....

Alleged: Dr. Hill and LK purposely ran everyone off so the only way the program could go is UP! The Watkins dismissal was based on trumped up and lied about issues by the coaches so they could boot a kid with medical problems and save face! There is NO substantiation for these and other wild claims but that is of little importance to the Dark Side. I am dumbfounded at the effort put forth to spin a controversy where none exists. Is it possible it’s supposed to be wildly humorous and “snarky” in keeping with the theme? Naw. There is no humor in this assault.

by luey123 on Jan 25, 2012 7:21 AM MST up reply actions

I agree with luey

When I read that attack, I thought it was pretty shameful as well.

by UnHoly Ram on Jan 25, 2012 9:51 AM MST up reply actions

Yep

I expected little out of the Utes this season, but what I hoped for was team-wide discipline (from the stars to the scrubs), hard-nosed D, a coach-run offense, and overall toughness and fight in spite of score and record.

Things didn’t start out that way, but they’re trending that direction. Unless the team takes a huge step back, I think the foundation has been laid. Now we need to start plugging top-notch talent into this system and we’re off to the races.

I’m not sure we’ll ever see late-90’s Majerus success at the U again, but I think Utah belongs as a consistently top third of the PAC hoops program where an NCAA bid is not a celebration but an expectation.
