Under Armour High School All-American Game
This Thursday at 7:30 p.m. the Under Armour High School All American game is being played. Last year it was during this game, that Langi announced his decision to be a Ute. There was another WR that Utah was among the top 3 of last season.
Even if they aren't picked Utah being a finalist for these players is huge publicity. Does anyone know if Utah is a legitimate shot with any of the players this season? It would be nice to land a recruit during this game, but at least being in the top three, and having the Utah hat out on the table looks good for Utah.
In other recruiting news, the recent announcements of recruits has move Utah to 38th on the rivals rankings. I'm not sure what Utah's highest ever ranking was, but for most of this season, Utah had been dwelling in the 50's. Granted these rankings will probably be very fluid over the next month or so.

There are three players who could pick Utah on Saturday.
We’ve got Brandon Beaver, 6’1" 175 CB out of California. Rivals lists his top choices as Nebraska, Oklahoma, UCLA, Utah, and Washington.
Kevon Seymour, 6’0" 180 CB out of California. Rivals lists 18 choices with Medium interest, one of which is Utah. Utah is one of 4 which has a recruiter named… not sure if that means anything.
Ellis McCarthy, 6’5" 311 DT out of California. Rivals has 14 choices for the kid, with 4 named recruiters (Utah is one). He has said he wants to stay ‘close to home’,I don’t know if Utah qualifies. A few months ago he said his top choices were Oregon and USC, but he hasn’t committed since then.
McCarthy feels like a USC guy to me, although I’d love to get him and he might notice how many NFL tackles we have been producing lately. Beaver seems our most likely get, and I can’t get anything out of Seymour.
Any one of those guys would be a huge score for the Utes… McCarthy is a 5 star on Rivals, four on ESPN. He seems big and fast enough to start as a freshman… a line with him and Star on it would be causing nightmares all next season. I don’t have my hopes up, though.

I think Beaver is the only one with a shot of Utah being on the list.
But I think Beaver goes Nebraska, Kevon goes to and McCarthy goes to SC.
As far as stars I don’t trust ESPN. For one they don’t use JuCo guys in their team rankings, and two they seem to rank guys who participate in ESPN sponsored events higher than Scout/Rivals. Scout/Rivals at least seem to be more in sync with one another.
just for the record I don't think we'll even sniff a shot at McCarthy based on what you said
but dear god the thought of a guy like him in the middle of the line with Lotulelei has me drooling. That would be a terrifying line!

Yeah
Pretty tiny chance that we get him. Don’t think we’ll get any of those guys, but maybe there will be another recruit watching the game, hear the Utes mentioned two or three times and give Sataki a call.

As great as any recruit choosing Utah is...
… Being in the top 3 of multiple players is just as beneficial, especially in future recruiting.
Shoot
That was the Army All-American Bowl that I was reading about. That said, those three guys… we didn’t get any of them. Cal did EXTREMELY well.

Although Beaver still hasn't committed
In fact of the three, only McCarthy committed. To Cal
In other news
Anyone notice Barry Sanders? Running Back, 4-5 stars. Too funny.

Ah!
Didn’t realize he was a Junior.
The most amazing thing about Sanders is that he never seemed to really like playing football. Imagine what he would have done if he had as much love for the game as some other, less gifted, players.

Point of Correction.
Now that I think back, Langi was part of the Army All American game I believe. Of which we have even less chance of being talked about.
