Recruiting?
Noticed other Pac12 blogs have had recruiting rundowns on their front page. How is recruiting going? Who are the main targets/possibilities?

well here is where you can look at who's committed to us
http://rivals.yahoo.com/utah/football/recruiting/commitments/2012/utah-94
as far as who they’re looking at I can’t help you there but this seems to be a pretty good class for us.
5 biggest commits so far are Hansen, Wilson, Poutasi, York, and Thomas IMO
White+York could be quite the duo
Great thing about JC recruits is they are somewhat adjusted to the pace and strength of college type play, as opposed to high school kids. York definitely seems like more of a smack you in the mouth runner. Pair that with White’s shifty-ness and smash mouth running style, I think we could have a deadly backfield. Too bad Asiata isn’t coming back, we need a FB like him to step up and add that extra little dimension to our lacking offense.
They would have red-shirted him this year

They Should have red-shirted him this year.
That said, if any RB is getting red-shirted it will be York, to give him another year to recover from a late season knee injury.
From UteZone article
With only a handful of available spots remaining for Utah’s signing class of 2012, the Utah coaching staff is hard at work trying to secure the last few commitments and finish up the class. UteZone breaks down the top 10 prospects on the board this week. Here’s the list:
1 – Polo Manukainiu – DE – Trinity HS (Texas) – Morgan Scalley
Manukainiu, a former Oklahoma commit, is one of the strongest defensive line prospects coming out of Texas this year. He is choosing between Texas A&M, Baylor and Utah, but several factors could be pushing him toward Salt Lake City.
2 – Carlos Lozano – OT – East Los Angeles CC (California) – Aaron Roderick
Lozano is a big tackle prospect that will be visiting Salt Lake City this weekend. He recently visited Kansas State and has a trip scheduled to Washington State on January 20. A decision should come shortly after.
3 – Brian Allen – ATH – La Marque HS (Texas) – Morgan Scalley
Allen is visiting this weekend and could end up playing either receiver or corner should he commit to Utah. He plans on visiting Nevada on January 20, and will decide shortly thereafter.
4 – Will Latu – OT – College of the Canyons (Calif.) – Brian Johnson
Latu is a former Auburn commit that is now considering Utah and Florida State. Latu visited Salt Lake City in December and would be an instant impact player if he signs with the Utes.
5 – Greg Allen – CB – Alief Taylor HS (Texas) – Morgan Scalley
Allen is a speedy cornerback prospect and track star that has come on strong as of late. He’ll visit Salt Lake City this weekend and Kansas on January 20. Coach Scalley was the first to offer the speedy corner, which could bode well for the Utes.
6 – Alphonso Marsh – CB – Dominguez HS (California) – Chad Kauha’aha’a
Marsh is visiting Utah this weekend along with close friend and Utah commit Delshawn McClellon and teammate Brandon Beaver. He is primarily looking at Washington, UCLA and Utah, but it will take a very good visit to sway him for the Utes.
7 – Brandon Beaver – CB – Dominguez HS (California) – Chad Kauha’aha’a
Beaver had a good showing at the Army All-American game this past weekend. Like Marsh, Beaver is good friends with McClellon. He is considering Washington and Oklahoma along with the Utes.
8 – Moana Ofahengaue – DE – Westlake HS (Utah) – Jay Hill/Kalani Sitake
Ofahengaue recently played in the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl and is on a visit to Arizona State this weekend. He grew up around the Utah program, and has a strong relationship with Kalani Sitake. If Ofahengaue decides to stay in state, he’ll be a Ute.
9 – Pio Vatuvei – DT – Patterson HS (Calif.) – Tim Davis/Chad Kauha’aha’a/Kalani Sitake
Vatuvei committed to USC in the summer, but has been taking visits to a number of programs, including Cal. He’ll be in Salt Lake City this weekend to get a closer look at what Utah has to offer and could potenially flip if he likes what he sees.
10 – Hoko Fanaika – OL – College of San Mateo – Tim Davis
Fanaika is another mammoth offensive line prospect that Utah could potentially bring in to help shore up depth. He visited Utah State this past weekend and is also looking at Hawaii. If a Utah offer officially comes his way, the Utes have a good shot.
Thanks for the summary.
I have been hearing about the Beaver kid. We need corners – shut down, one on one ability type of corners. It will be tough to lure him from UCLA and the Sooners.
The last player I recall with the last name of Beaver, Beavers I think actually was Aubrey Beavers a LB that played at Oklahoma and was a second round pick of the Miami Dolphins. The guy was a dud in the pros.

Hey, let's not do that.
If they want Utezone tips, let them pay the $9.

Or just use the goutes promo code
and get a 30 day free trial.
never asked for utezone tips, just asked for a recruiting update, but thanks anyway Thlete!!

Oh I know.
I wasn’t blaming you, but Thlete just copied and pasted an article that someone worked hard on. Even if it were a free article (and it wasn’t), he should link to it instead of copying it, so Utezone gets the traffic. I know he wasn’t doing it on purpose, just wanted to point out that it might be a good idea in the future.

There are basically two ways to follow recruiting.......
one is to just follow Block U, the Des News, and the trib. They are all free. They don’t report the drama. And they don’t waste your time with little trivial bits of info. Or, you can pay for Utezone or InsidetheUtes and they will keep you completely up to date on every single person who even contacts the U. And they will fill your life with drama.
To me, Id rather not pay a penny to someone to speculate and just find out about these guys when they sign on the dotted line. But to each thier own.
Love the Jazz, Utes, and BoSox.

Personally I find UteZone fantastic.
Their articles on the potential recruits, and their information about what is happening and why is great and better than the DNews or the Trib about 95% of the time. I personally felt great about the PAC 12 months before it happened because of UteZone. They’re not always first, but they rarely steer me wrong.
I don’t have a subscription to InsideTheUtes, so I don’t know how good they are, but there is certainly a place for both and I don’t think it fills my life with drama.

ok, so maybe i was being "dramatic" ha ha
but the point is the same. To each their own……to follow every recruit is just too much for me. But there is a market for it.

I wish
There was some video somewhere of this new DT. That’s the only information I don’t have but want.
I’m with Ben on this one… too much information and it costs too much money.
