Utah Scheduling Updates

Stay connected for news and updates

Looks like the Utes have finalized, as much as anything can be finalized, the date of their matchup with Utah, at Rice-Eccles Stadium, in 2016. The game will be played on 9/10. The second week of the season, so most likely will have a 10 day break leading up to it, since Utah seems to like this starting the season on a Thursday.

This also finalizes out of conference scheduling through 2015 with a home opener against Idaho State in 2013 to go with the trip to the Big House, and a Home games against Utah State to go with the hosting of the Wolverines in 2014. Utah seems pretty locked into the 2 home/1 away model for OOC games, which also means another 7 game home schedule in 2014.

They've also announced a Home and Home series with Fresno State. They'll play at home in 2014, and go on the road in 2015. Fresno is an interesting opponent for a couple reasons. Fresno was a surprise competitor for the MWC Champion this year. It'll be interesting to see if they are able to sustain the success from this year.

Even more intriguing is that during our nationwide search for an offensive coordinator last year where apparently the best man for the job was a 24 year old with only 4 years of coaching experience, and no OC experience whatsoever, Dave Schramm left the team to become the OC for the Bulldogs, and helped the Bulldogs to have a pretty potent offense this past season while our "best man for the job" out of all the candidates who would "blow your minds" led the Utes to a dismal offense ranked in the 100's. (P.S. while this may sound like a shot at BJ's performance this past season, it's meant more as a shot at Whittingham terrible hiring practices.)
