My apologies for those of you who don't give a hoot about this stuff. But I must inquire.

Should we expect any kind of change for Utah's uniforms in 2011? We received new duds last season, which were a substantial improvement over the old ones. But I still want an alternate freaking helmet! Am I alone on this?

I don't want Utah to be the next Oregon or Maryland (translation: a fashion laughingstock), but it's widely understood that having alternate looks inspire the players and attract recruits. It also looks good on TV. So why is Utah taking so long to give us at least one alternate helmet? Is it so much to ask?

I can't believe they haven't introduced (at the very least) a black helmet to complete the "blackout" uniform, as it would look so much better than the red. And as we saw at the conclusion of last season, the issue of the drum & feather was raised once again... and it will continue to come up in the future. Naturally, had we dumped the D&F we could count on new helmets this season. But I'm wondering if maybe they will introduce new helmet(s) anyway, maybe knowing that eventually the D&F will go away at some point (which seems likely).

Also, I hate our white facemasks. Always have. For the love of Pete, they should be red. Or black. Not white.

So if Utah were to introduce a new helmet or helmets, what would you like to see? A black one? White? Different variation of red? Or how about a non-school color like Silver or gold? I'm interested to know what other Ute fans would like to see out there.

Personally, I think the ideal alternate helmet would be one that looks black from a distance... but up close it's actually a sparkly dark red, which only shows up under stadium lights or sunlight. That would be totally ill.
