The Blackout is always one of the highlights of the season. I love it. I love the black uniforms. And I LOVE the new matte black helmets Utah will introduce this season.

A question I always ponder around this time of year is... which game this year will feature the Blackout?

The first Blackout was Nov. 6, 2008 vs TCU.

The second Blackout was Oct. 31, 2009 vs Wyoming.

The third Blackout (the camo) was Nov. 6, 2010 vs TCU.

The fourth Blackout was Oct. 29, 2011 vs Oregon State.

So... it seems they do the Blackout at the end of October or early November. But it's doubtful that's a steadfast rule, so this year's edition could come during any of the games on the schedule. So which game would you like to see the Blackout for?

For me, it's certainly USC on Oct. 4. What a fantastic opportunity to showcase the Blackout and get some extra juice from fans! On national TV... an incredibly important matchup... and a great stage to roll out the new black helmets. That said, it's hard for me to imagine any other game being a possibility. How cool would Utah's head-to-toe black look in contrast to the Trojans' cardinal and white?

However, that would be a departure from the last four Blackouts in that it would occur in early October. So it's possible it won't happen then.

If they opt for another game, my second preference would be for California on Oct. 27. I seriously believe the Blackout's gotta happen for one of these two games.

Regardless of when it happens, I think it might be safe to say that it'll be the best Blackout yet.
