Right now, we are in the middle of the lull, the accursed football-free period of the year. This actually made me think about the other Ute sports I've seen and consider which of them all is the most exciting. So, I thought I'd lay them out for you and see which ones y'all think are the most exciting:
Gymnastics: What's not to like about girls in leotards defying the laws of physics and gravity? Though not a Muss member, I went to most of the gymnastics meet and had a blast with my friends cheering on the #5 team in the country.
Basketball: Though this year was terrible for the men's team, the women didn't do too bad and next year looks to be alot more competitive. However, I just wasn't able to find anything really exciting with watching our bball teams this year, especially when we were getting massacred on our own turf.
Volleyball: as a former HS volleyball player, I'm a bit biased in that I found our team this year quite fun to watch. We lost a lot of games we shouldn't have, but we have a good power team and all it usually takes is a few nice kills (a.k.a. spikes) to really get the energy going.
Softball: I'm sorry, but this is like the bball comment, it's just not fun going out and watching a group of girls get owned on their own turf, especially when it's not entirely their fault but their coaches for the most part (e.g. her pitcher gives up 2 HR in a row, four in the inning, and yet the coach keeps her in for 2 more innings, where they rack up 3 more points).
So, what do y'all think, which is the most exciting non-football sport up here at the U?
