I am getting increasingly concerned about access to the PAC-12 Network. Could this be a MTN all over again as far as distribution goes? We've been hearing for weeks now that a deal with DirectTV is imminent but we are now a less than a week away from the opening of the season and there still isn't a deal. As a current Dish customer, I am willing to cancel and go with DirectTV today if the PAC-12 Network was available.
I am a bit more stubborn about moving to Comcast. Something about paying more for an inferior product rubs me the wrong way. Do I really have to switch to cable to get the network any time soon?
At what point do we start pointing the finger at the conference for the distribution issues. Similarly to what we were told with the Mtn, we are encouraged to contact our providers and ask for the network. I have done so with both Dish and DirectTV numerous times. However, nothing is communicated as to what the conference is doing. Should they be making concessions in negotiations to get better distribution? We tend to blame the providers but it is hard to say without being on the inside who is to blame.
Fortunately, I will be attending Utah's first 3 games so in that case I guess I have a bit of time. Nonetheless, it would be nice to watch the rest of the conference in the first few weeks of the season. I just hope a deal is done soon. The longer this drags on the more concerned I become.
