Is anyone really surprised USC lost to Stanford? I'm not. I bought the hype, thought they could roll into Salt Lake City undefeated, but I always felt the potential was there for them not living up to their national ranking. Let's be honest, while a lot of talent returned, the Trojans were every bit the uncertainty they've been the past few years. They just got a lot of mileage out of their victory over Oregon.

I still think they'll win a lot of games and hey, maybe they don't lose another the remainder of the season, but it's unlikely USC can play their way back into the national championship picture without some help from other programs.

It really is too bad. I wanted to play the #1 team in the nation. That won't happen this this regardless of how well the Trojans look the remainder of the year.

Oh well. I'm sure USC fans are taking this loss a lot harder than I am.

The rankings after the jump...
