At this point in recruiting, it appears we have a very solid class of 27 commits. We are losing 26 seniors. How many more we might sign is anyone's guess. As far as how they are rated by ESPN, we are competetitive with Colorado only as far as the ranking given (though not so far behind others as to be out of the running). We'll see how it shakes out, but even Washington State--a recruiting backwater--is pulling in more 4 star rated players than Utah (4-1). Not to be glum, the rankings do not mean everything, but I doubt it is a good sign. This is one problem with folks saying "new coach, new coach . . ." it is hard to recruit to Utah and while we can all agree that assistant coaches might be hired who have deeper BCS experience, I doubt that, short of a massive infusion of cash, we will ever have a head coach at Utah for a long enough period who will be capable of bringing in the type of talent that will establish us as a perrenial 8-10 or so win team.
While Rivals does rate us as teh 6th best recruiting class inthe conference, this has to do with total points which we pull in due to the size of the class already signed. They rate us in quality of average recruit as the 9th best program. Based on their ratings, not much separates say 7-12.
