Utah is expected to play in this year's CBI - the second appearance in program history.
Apparently, the Utes' loss to Oregon in the semifinals of the year's Pac-12 Tournament was not the final game of the season. Utah is expected to accept a bid to play in this year's CBI Tournament, according to Bankroll Sports.
If true, this will be the Utes' second appearance in the tournament. In 2008, Jim Boylen's first year as coach at Utah, the program lost in the second round to Tulsa - who, along with Texas, is also expected to receive berths.
It's certainly not a prestigious event - but considering we haven't sniffed the postseason since the 2009 season, and the added games could prove exciting for an improving team, I'm all for it. Granted, I'd rather be talking NCAA Tournament, or even the NIT ... but this will suffice.
