The men who wear short-shorts are preparing for the 2014 edition of THE WASATCH CUP. The most brutal rivalry game in American College Rugby for all the same reasons that you could guess and add in the fact that this game is played between two top 10 ranked sides with National Playoff seeding on the line.
Utah the underdogs are prepared to do battle with the #3 Cougars down at South Field in Provo(Friday April 4, 2014 @1900hrs or 7pm). I'm not here to fawn over the Cougars and ballyhoo them(that's dnews' job I believe), however I must state that the Cougars have won 8 of the last 9 meetings unfortunately and are a very strong side. So are we, you don't get put into the top 10 of anything if you are a ho-hum squad, and the Wasatch Cup is always a very closely contested match (Unless The Utes win, then it's a runaway freight train from HELL, WOOOOO, WOOOO!!!!!)so I guarantee you that there will be good rugby to see.
Seeing as BYU is hosting and hoping to draw a large crowd from their fanbase I don't imagine the match will be too expensive($5 a ticket), but probably cash only at the entrance and refreshment stand. If you have a desire to go, I advise you to do it. These are kids without scholarships; playing, practicing, traveling, studying, going to class, and probably working part time jobs just for the honor of wearing the DnF logo on their chests. With all this unionization of scholarship athletes these days wouldn't it be nice to support kids who are doing it on their own dime?
So, on Friday night, "BUST EM' " UTAH! All of Ute Nation is behind you. What better way to rebuild the program than by bestowing a sweet @$$-whooping on TDS?
