With the season finishing a few weeks ago, and spring ball about 6-8 weeks away, we now get a peak at the schedule for the 2020 season, so we can start our travel plans now.
Here’s what the new look Utes will be competing against in 2020:
9/3: BYU
9/12: Montana State
9/19: @ Wyoming
9/26: @ Cal
10/2: USC
10/10: @ Wazzu
10/17: Washington
10/29: @ UCLA
11/7: Arizona
11/14: Oregon State
11/21: @ ASU
11/28: @ Colorado
This is a balanced, six game home-away schedule for the Utes with five conference road games, and with just the one bye this year, after two this past season. Honestly, I’m not sure how people can guess a W/L record with so many new faces for the 2020 squad, but there are some interesting stretches.
The first one is the Cal/USC back-to-back, as the Utes play the Trojans on a six day week after going to Berkeley to play Cal. What’s with Utah and USC playing on Friday nights? Then the Utes get the Cougars and Huskies back-to-back, with new coaching staffs. In what could be the lightest portion of the schedule, the Utes have the group of UCLA, Arizona, and Oregon State after the bye after the UW game. Also, for the first time that I can remember, the Utes will have senior day really early, coming against the Beavers before finishing on the road in back-to-back weeks with the Devils and Buffs. Utah misses Oregon and Stanford once again, as both of those squads look to do some rebuilding too.
The Pac-12 in 2020 is wide open, and the Utes will have a tough road to getting back to Santa Clara for the third consecutive season.
