Utah and BYU coaches played in the Liberty Mutual Invitational for kidney cancer. The Salt Lake Tribune's Kyle Goon shot a video at the banquet afterwards of the BYU coaching staff singing Utah Man, the University of Utah's fight song. Based on photo posted by Goon, it appears that the Utah coaching staff posted a lower score than the BYU coaches (60 for Utah compared to 65 for BYU), which is probably what prompted the BYU coaches having to sing Utah's fight song. There appeared to be conviviality between the two coaching staffs at the event; hopefully that leads to less vitriol between the two programs and their respective fan bases.
I joined Mark Rogers and a couple of bloggers that cover Pac-12 teams, and we previewed the bowl games, we chatted about some of the match ups, and we also dove into the Heisman race.
This past week, the Utah Men's and Women's basketball program's moved into their new facility, which is amazing, just like their football's counterpart.
The Utes have lost plenty of high profile kids to out of state programs over the years. Coach Kyle Whittingham and staff are focusing on keeping those kids in state with more emphasis and increased marketing. While it's cheesy, this video by The U is funny, and shows the coaching staff is trying to have fun and relate to the kids they're going after in state.
The Utes hung out of Coach Krystokowiak's house to learn their destination and opponent in the NCAA tournament - here's how they reacted when the matchup was announced.
In this episode of the podcast, we go around the table and talk about the Utes and their recent struggles. We ask each other, should we be concerned? Also, we talk about the Utes' chances in the tournament, and which match ups we like, and how far we think they will go. Each one of us give a different answer of how far we think they will advance. The game isn't until 9:30pm MDT tonight, so pass a half hour of it by giving a listen to today's podcast!
