Around the Hill: Your Ute wrap-up from this past weekend

Russ Isabella-USA TODAY Sports

Not a lot happening up on the hill right now, but here are some of the stories that hit this weekend.

Baseball

The Utah baseball season came to a close yesterday afternoon. The Utes wrapped up the 2014 campaign against Stanford by dropping a doubleheader 9-7 and 3-2.Utah ended the season 16-36 and 4-26 in the Pac-12. The loss ends the Utah careers of Zack Adams, Konnor Armijo, Tanner Banks, TJ Bennett, Nick Green, Cory Hunt, Tyler Yagi, Ben Mordini, Braden Anderson, Josh Chapman and Luke West.

Spring GPA

Utah's student-athletes did a great job in the class room this past semester, by racking up a 3.129 GPA.Over 60-percent of Utah's student-athletes (262 of 406) were on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll with a minimum GPA of 3.0, and almost a third of them--128 total--qualified for the Dean's List, which requires at least a 3.5 GPA.

Track & Field

There is still a little bit happening up on the hill. The track and field team had eight qualify for the NCAA preliminaries next weekend. The 2014 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field West Preliminary Round is May 29 - May 31. The three days of competition take place at the University of Arkansas campus in Fayetteville.
