Jerry Sloan resigns as Jazz's head coach
This is big news in Utah. Sloan is an institution and it's being announced that he, along with his long-time assistant Phil Johnson, will resign today at 3:00.
I am a huge Jazz fan (haven't hid it well) and this is a big blow. I am utterly shocked and saddened right now.

Larry Miller is dead
Owner of the Utah Jazz Larry Miller lost his battle with diabetes today, passing away at 64 years of age. Miller has been an important player in the Utah sports community for years and his loss will be felt for decades to come.

Pigs fly as hell freezes over, the mtn. strikes a deal with Direct TV
Stop the presses, everyone, the mtn. is coming to Direct TV this August. All I can say is it's about damn time this happened. Took long enough, though and I'm still going to be skeptical until it actually begins airing on Direct TV later this summer. But for now, the news does seem to be real, so rejoice Utah fans without digital cable, you may just get to see Utah football this year.
Finally the Mountain West regains some credibility on the national sports stage. Maybe the future isn't as bleak as originally thought.

The Simpsons...
Well tonight is the big night! I know this has nothing to do with Utah sports, but I can't help but get excited for the Simpsons movie. In fact, I've got tickets to the 12:01 showing in Salt Lake. Thankfully, it appears the movie is solid, as it's received an 84% Fresh ranking from Rotten Tomatoes.
Hopefully the movie lives up to the hype.
