Boylen finalizes staff

Jeff Smith, currently an assistant at Oakland University, is expected to become the top assistant at Utah under Jim Boylen. Though nothing has been released yet, speculation had been leaning that way for the past week or so and it should be officially announced in the coming days.

It was also reported yesterday that Boylen would retain both Marty Wilson and Chris Jones. Wilson recruited California, while Jones had been recruiting Utah over the past year. It's interesting that Boylen kept both coaches, as that's typically not the norm for a coach who comes to a new program. When Ray Giacoletti arrived at Utah, he kept none of Majerus' assistants and instead brought on Randy Rahe (now the head coach of Weber), Mike Score (now an assistant at Eastern Washington) and Marty Wilson.
