Michigan Wolverines to play Utah in 2008?

This is interesting. News out of Detroit and on Ute Zone suggest Utah is close to inking a deal to play the Michigan Wolverines in the 2008 football season. This deal would be a one and done and offer Utah a tough BCS team on a rather easy schedule which consists of road games against Washington State, Utah State and home games against Oregon State and Weber State.

So how does this work with Utah's schedule being full? Well the Utes could push back the Washington State series, who they open against in '08, or drop the Weber State game that's scheduled for Sept. 27th of 2008. That would give Utah 11 games and they could easily fit Michigan into their schedule the week following Utah's road game against Utah State. Michigan and Utah both have the Sept. 27th Saturday off, as Michigan plays Notre Dame the week prior. That would easily work for both teams.

Regardless of this not being a 2 for 1, I say go for it. 2008 should be the most talented team Utah's had since 2004 and an upset win against Michigan in the Big House could pave the way for something special. Of course most Utah fans haven't gotten over Utah's 10-7 loss to Michigan in 2002, so this could offer up some sweet revenge.

If it happens, this is what Utah's schedule could look like in 2008:

8/30/08: @ Washington State
9/6/08: Oregon State
9/13/08: @ Utah State
9/27/08: @ Michigan
@ Air Force
UNLV
@ SDSU
TCU
CSU
@ Wyoming
@ New Mexico
BYU

Here's to this being true and we're seeing this image next year:
