So it might not be the Coaches or Media polls, but I'd like to think the fan-based BlogPoll is just as good. And no, I'm not saying that just because I have a vote. I actually thought this before receiving that privilege.
The Utes also received one first-place vote from a Penn State fan, whose reasoning can't really be discounted - since it is a preseason poll and every team is undefeated at the moment.
Myself? I received the Mr. Numb Existence award for the week, which is given to the blogger with the least divergence from the final weekly top-25.
Mr. Numb Existence goes to the blogger with the dullest ballot and Block U manages to slide in with a number that would stand a good chance of winning midseason, when the options you have with your vote are far more constrained. I'm not going to make a joke about Mormons. I'm not.
Yes, folks, I'm boring. Or at least I'd like to think I'm just ahead of the curve here.
Other teams of note:
Oregon at 16th
TCU at 17th
BYU at 20th
Since Oregon plays Boise State (15th) in week one, I expect some big movement in either direction depending on the outcome. Utah, though, will probably stay stagnant after two weeks, since their schedule is rather soft until their showdown with the Ducks in week three.
