Though it appears neither will play against the Lobos, both Zane Taylor and Jordan Wynn are progressing speedily and might be ready to go against the San Jose St. Spartans next week.
Wynn sprained his thumb in Utah's win over Pittsburgh in week one and sat out the Utes' win over UNLV Saturday. Taylor, Utah's starting center, went down late in the fourth quarter against the Rebels, though it appears the injury isn't serious and should only keep him out a week:
"Zane Taylor is going to be OK. It's nothing major," Utah coach Kyle Whittingham said before adding that optimistically he could be back this week.
As for Wynn, well he isn't officially out for Saturday. However, I wouldn't be surprised if the coaches sat him for precautionary reasons. If that's the case, a good time to bring him back would be against the Spartans, who Utah plays a week before their bye and subsequent roadie against the Iowa St. Cyclones.
If Wynn doesn't go this weekend, Terrance Cain should get the nod and against a Lobo team that has given up a combined 124 points in two weeks, I wouldn't expect too many problems on the offensive side.
