Gaius Vaenuku killed in New Mexico accident

Vaenuku and Texas A&M's Polo Manukainiu were killed Monday in a car accident.

Russ Isabella-US PRESSWIRE

Some awful news broke earlier today as incoming Utah freshman Gaius Vaenuku and Texas A&M's Polo Manukainiu were killed in a car accident Monday evening in New Mexico. The two, along with another passenger, Andrew Uhatafe, died after the SUV they were traveling in rolled over in Sandoval County, New Mexico. Salesi Uhatafe, another Utah player, survived the accident, as did his father, Salesi Sr.

Kyle Whittingham had this to say:

Everyone who knew Gaius is heartbroken today. He was the kind of young man who lit up a room and his future in football and life had no boundaries. Words cannot express our devastation over the loss of Gaius. This is a sad day not only for University of Utah football, but for everyone whose lives Gaius crossed or would have crossed but for this tragedy. Our hearts go out to Gaius' and Salesi's families, and to the Texas A&M coaches and players. We are praying for the speedy recovery of Salesi and his father.

Obviously my thoughts and prayers go out to the families of Vaenuku, Manukainiu and Uhatafe. I would also like to send my condolences to Good Bull Hunting, and all Texas A&M fans.
