One of the craziest weekends in college football over the last couple of years just past. Numerous teams that were ranked in the top 25 polls lost this past week, including plenty in the Pac-12. Of course, Ute fans are all too aware of the upset that took place in LA at the Rose Bowl. As the weeks have gone on, our polls have really begun to look differently.
Here are our individual ballots for this week:
Shane | Steven | Alex | Adia | Daniel | |
1 | Arizona | Arizona | Arizona | Arizona | Arizona |
2 | Oregon | Oregon | Cal | Cal | Oregon |
3 | Utah | ASU | Oregon | Oregon | Stanford |
4 | Stanford | Utah | Stanford | Stanford | Washington |
5 | UCLA | UCLA | Utah | Utah | Utah |
6 | ASU | USC | UCLA | UCLA | UCLA |
7 | USC | Stanford | ASU | ASU | ASU |
8 | Washington | Washington | USC | USC | USC |
9 | Cal | Cal | Washington | Washington | OSU |
10 | OSU | OSU | OSU | WSU | Cal |
11 | WSU | WSU | WSU | OSU | WSU |
12 | Colorado | Colorado | Colorado | Colorado | Colorado |
At the bottom of most our polls are Oregon State, Washington State and Colorado, with the exception of Daniel who has Cal in his bottom three. Arizona is the consensus No. 1 team in all of our polls after their big win over Oregon up in Eugene this past week. Cal is a team ranks all over the place in our individual ballots, from one person to another. Three of us have Cal ranked 9th or lower, while two of us have Cal 2nd!

As the weeks have gone along, there has been a lot of consistency, namely with CU and Wazzu at the bottom of the polls, as well as Oregon at or near the top. While the rest of the teams have swung from almost one extreme to the other. I had a hunch the Pac-12 would be crazy this year, but not this crazy. When multiple games have been decided by hail mary, then you know things are out of control.
Frankly, this is the 'Any Given Saturday' league. Any team can really beat almost any other team in the Pac-12, on any given Saturday. When I was filling out my ballot this week, I think it's fair to put Arizona up at the top, although they've had a close call with UTSA and Cal (one of the hail mary wins), and I think it's fair to put Colorado at the bottom, although they are looking much improved. With everyone else this week, I almost felt like drawing them out of a hat, because that's how close many of these teams are - including our Utes. It will be interesting to watch as we hit the home stretch of the season, if some of these teams start to fall off and separate themselves.
What are your thoughts on our week seven rankings? Are we close? Which team(s) do we have over/underrated?
