Travis Wilson cleared to participate in spring ball

The Utah quarterback will be allowed to practice with the team this spring - further evaluation expected in the summer.

Travis Wilson's career may not be over.

Today, the University announced doctors cleared the Utah quarterback for spring participation - though, he will be limited in the type of action he sees. While extraordinary news for Wilson, and the hope of a full recovery, it remains to be seen if this means he will be able to play this season.

Wilson's future was jeopardized after tests revealed a damage to an intracranial artery. He missed the final couple games of the 2013 season, and it proved unclear - all the way into the new year - whether he would ever see the field again.

However, the soon-to-be junior just may return as Utah's quarterback - fulfilling the promise he set in his young career prior to the injury.

Fingers crossed that this news is sustainable and it's Wilson under center when the Utes begin their season against Idaho State later this summer.

I'm glad to see Wilson is potentially on the mend and look forward to his reemergence as Utah's quarterback, if, of course, everything works out. More importantly, I'm glad his health is of no concern at the moment and I hope it stays that way.

Go Travis!
