Every summer, Utah fans look forward to the annual Ute Fan Fest, a celebration of each of the varsity teams, their players, coaches, and general fandom. Today, Utah athletics announced Fan Fest will take place Saturday, Aug. 23 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Rice-Eccles Stadium in the South Plaza.
Parking and admission for the event is free. Utah usually has food, beverage, and souvenir vendors operating throughout the day. Children are welcomed, and it's a good family atmosphere for all Utes fans. (And don't be intimidated by 6-9 men's basketball head coach Larry Krystkowiak. He's actually very personable.)
All 17 Utes varsity teams will participate in the popular event, which draws several thousand fans. The teams and coaches will sign autographs, pose for photos and engage in interactive games with the fans. If this year's event runs true to past Fan Fests, some of the more popular teams (men's basketball, football, and gymnastics) may have designated times for autograph signings, as well as particular areas of the South Plaza.
Ute Fan Fest really is a great opportunity for fans of all ages to rub elbows with their favorite Utes, wish them luck on the season, and go home with some signed memorabilia. In addition, you'll have the opportunity to meet newcomers like Kaelin Clay and Tevin Carter for the football team or men's basketball import, 7-0 Austrian center Jakob Poeltl, or local high school star Brekkot Chapman.
