The University of Utah women's basketball team has added junior guard Katie Kuklok, a transfer from Utah Valley University, to its roster for the 2014-15 season, Utah head coach Anthony Levrets announced Tuesday.

Last season, Kuklok was elected to the Western Athletic Conference All-Newcomer Team and scored at least 20 points nine times and in seven of her first 10 contests with the Wolverines. She led UVU in scoring throughout the season and poured in a team-best 16.0 points per game, which stood fifth in the WAC. Kuklok scored 12.4 points against WAC foes.

"We are thrilled to add Katie to our program," Levrets said. "She is a very good player and has a chance to have an immediate impact on our basketball team. However, the best thing about Katie and the reason she will fit so well with our team, is that she is a great young lady who is just as committed in the classroom as on the floor."

Kuklok finished 2013-14 atop the WAC rankings in 3-point field goal percentage (43.1) (11th in the NCAA), 3-pointers made per game (2.9), and free throw percentage (93.5), which was fourth in the nation. She started 23 times for UVU last season and also averaged 5.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.1 steals in 32.1 minutes per game for the Wolverines.

She hit 72 3-pointers last season, which established a new UVU school record. She was 7-for-10 from 3-point range against Chicago State on Feb. 20, 2014 and finished with 28 points and a season-high 11 rebounds.

Kuklok, a Poway, Calif., native, spent her freshman season at the University of San Diego in 2011-12, where she played in 31 games with 3.0 points in 8.1 minutes per game. She shot 40.0 from the floor and 36.5 from 3-point range for the Toreros. At Poway High School, Kuklok was a McDonald's All-American Game nominee and was named to both the ESPN/Cal Hi Sports California All-State Team and earned MaxPreps All-California Honorable Mention.
