Many corporate/university partnerships are fine for the institution or their athletics teams, but few actually benefit the fans. However, Alaska Airlines and the University of Utah athletics department have announced a partnership that will provide Utes football fans rewards ranging from priority boarding to discounted tickets during the 2014 season.

Anyone wearing a Utes jersey or shirt on an Alaska Airlines flight originating in Salt Lake City International airport to any destination from Aug. 23-Dec. 1, 2014 will receive priority boarding. Alaska will also offer discounted fares to fans attending Utes road games, as well as to out-of-state fans returning to Salt Lake City for home games. (For information on discounted fares to Utah road games, please visit utahutes.com.) Looks like a very good idea to be sure you represent while flying Alaska Airlines, Utes fans.

Alaska Airlines issued this statement on the partnership: "We are excited about our recent expansion in SLC and recognize the important role the University of Utah plays in the community. We are proud to support this great institution and their fans, students, faculty and alumni."

Alaska Airlines, with its partner regional airlines, serves nearly 100 cities in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. (For information about Alaska Airlines, visit their website at alaskair.com.)
