Runnin' Utes head coach Larry Krystkowiak and his staff continue to kill it on the recruiting trail, especially in state, with the commitment of Granger High School forward Makol Mawien. The Runnin' Utes beat out two West Coast Conference teams for Mawien, Gonzaga and BYU.

The 6-8, 210-pound power forward tweeted his commitment himself:

Here is some film on the talented prospect, who was invited to both the Nike camp and the prestigious LeBron James Skills Academy earlier this summer in Las Vegas:

Mawien is fluid going to the basket for a young player of his size. He handles the ball well in traffic and is difficult to guard one-on-one. He has a decent outside shot and a better than average turnaround jumper. He has a college ready body, is strong in the post, with soft hands around the rim. Best of all, Mawien is a rim protector. He's a solid defender and plays good position, as well as having the foot speed to defender smaller players around the basket.
