Fresno State @ Utah Open Thread

Utah takes on former WAC foe Fresno State today in Rice-Eccles Stadium. Utah is looking for win number two on the young season.

Chris Nicoll-USA TODAY Sports

After a pedestrian 56-14 win over FCS Idaho State 10-days ago, Utah is looking to make the cliché week one to week two improvement, which should be the biggest improvement of the season. That improvement is hoping to come against two-time defending Mountain West champs Fresno State. Fresno is looking to rebuild their offense after losing Derek Carr to the NFL. While on the other side of the line of scrimmage, Utah is looking to sure up a running defense after an iffy week one, and a struggling secondary. Some depth chart changes have happened for Utah to try to tighten things down a little bit.

Offensively, Utah is trying to keep professing under first year offensive coordinator Dave Christensen. Travis Wilson looked good in game one, and it will be important for him to play well against Fresno, because the quality of athlete and player is going to jump dramatically from ISU. It will be key for the Utes to get the running game going with Devontae Booker and Bubba Poole, to establish a tone for the game.

The Utah game is going head-to-head with three other Pac-12 games at 1pm MT, Sac St at Cal (Pac-12 Net), CU at UMass (ESPN3), and Eastern Washington at Washington (Pac-12 Net). At 1:30pm MT USC and Stanford will be kicking off on ABC/ESPN.

If you're not up at Rice-Eccles with 45,000 of your closest friends, then site back in your favorite chair, watch the Utes, and discuss what's happening here, in our open thread!
