Not a lot of news to come out of a BYE week, but here is a bit of a nugget. Today it was announced that the matchup between Utah and Michigan will kick off at 1:30pm MDT on Saturday, September 20th. The game will be broadcast on ABC Regional or on ESPN2, depending on where you live.
Utah is coming off of a blowout victory over Fresno State on Saturday to move the Utes' record to 2-0. Michigan, on the other hand, is coming off of a 31-0 shutout loss to Notre Dame in South Bend, the first time Michigan has been shutout since 1984. Michigan returns to the field this coming Saturday against Miami (OH), in Ann Arbor. There seems to be some angst among Michigan fans about their offensive line and defense. If that holds true for the Utah matchup, the Utes will be in good shape, considering the Utes are currently 1st in the nation in tackles for loss, and 2nd in sacks. Utah is also currently 4th in the country in scoring offense, of course the competition the first two weeks hasn't been stellar.
Utah is 1-1 all-time versus Michigan, with a loss in 2002 and a win in 2008. This years matchup is the first of a two game home-and-home series between the schools, with the return trip to Salt Lake City scheduled for September 3rd, 2015.
