It was a successful BYE week for the Utes, about as successful as you could have wanted if you are a Utah fan. Four teams ahead of Utah fell in the rankings on Saturday, along with other teams not looking so good, which allowed for the Utes to move up in both the AP and Coaches Poll.
The Utes, for the first time ever, are the highest ranked team in the Pac-12 conference, leading the Pac with five total ranked teams (Stanford, UCLA, USC and Cal). The biggest news for the Utes isn't the fact that they've ascended to where they are in the polls, but the fact that they are receiving first place votes in both polls. In the AP Poll they received seven first place votes, and in the Coaches Poll they received one first place vote.
The No. 5/7 ranked Utes take on the No.23/22 Ranked Cal Bears on Saturday night.
