The Utah Utes (7-1, 4-1 Pac-12) stayed at No. 13 in the AP Poll and No. 14 in the Amway Coaches Poll after defeating Oregon State 27-12 on Saturday. Utah failed to cover the spread against the worst team in the conference, and no team ahead of the Utes lost this week (with many of the teams inactive this week). Next week is being called "Separation Saturday" with match ups between No. 4 LSU at No. 7 Alabama, No. 5 TCU at No. 12 Oklahoma State, and No. 3 Clemson versus No. 17 Florida State. No. 1 Ohio State will have to take on Minnesota without starting quarterback J.T. Barrett, who is suspended for the game after he was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Utah is still in control of their own destiny in the Pac-12 South. Utah has one currently ranked opponent left in the regular season with No. 22 UCLA coming to Salt Lake in a couple weeks, but before that, Utah will need to take care of business in two road games: at Washington and at Arizona.
One thing that will be very interesting is to see where the Utes rank in the first College Football Playoff Committee ranking that comes out Tuesday.
