IT'S GAME TIME! The Runnin' Utes season officially tips off tonight, as they take on the SUU Thunderbirds at the Huntsman Center. The Utes begin their quest toward improving on their Sweet-16 birth of last season, and hopes to contend for the Pac-12 Championship.
The Utes are a senior loaded squad, especially with four year starters/contributors Jordan Loveridge, Brandon Taylor and Dakari Tucker. Those three players have helped rebuild this program toward championship contention - even some people have the Utes as a sleeper Final Four team. While that is definitely a bit optimistic for this team, no doubt they have the potential to make a run in the NCAA Tournament if they can fill the shoes that Delon Wright left vacant.
The college basketball season is a marathon, not a sprint, and it's all about building toward conference play, and building a resume to get good seeding going into the tournament. While SUU won't do that for the Utes, it's a nice primer to get ready for San Diego State on Monday.
If you aren't at the Huntsman Center for the opener tonight, sit back, turn on Pac-12 Networks, and chat about the game with us!
