The Utes signed possibly the starting QB for next years team today, with the addition of JC transfer, and former Washington QB, Troy Williams.
This is one signing I'm very excited for, as Williams looks like he could be an instant impact player, allowing Tyler Huntley to really develop before taking over in a couple of years. Williams, a 3 star rated composite recruit by 24/7 sports, will be here in January and will be competing in spring ball for the starting QB position. Williams is a pass first QB, that is very lethal with his legs, and should be able to plug into the offense very well.
Here's the official press release:
SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah football team received a signed National Letter of Intent today from 6-2, 197-pound quarterback Troy Williams of Carson, Calif. (Santa Monica College). Williams plans to enroll at Utah for the spring semester.
Williams transferred to Santa Monica after spending two seasons at Washington out of high school. He played in five games for the Huskies in 2014 and started one. He redshirted in 2013 and will join the Utes with two years remaining on his NCAA clock. This season at Santa Monica, Williams passed for 2,750 yards and 31 touchdowns with just four interceptions.
The midyear signing period for JC transfers ends on Jan. 15.
