The U.S. Basketball Writers of America named Delon Wright a second team all-american this morning. Wright became the eighth Utah player to earn All-America honors and the first since Andrew Bogut in 2005.
Wright was recently named District VIII Player of the Year by the USBWA as well as being honored as a two-time All-Pac-12 First Team choice. The senior guard was also chosen to the All-Defensive Team for the second-consecutive year. He is a currently a finalist for the Cousy Award, given to the nation's top point guard, and for the John Wooden Award and James Naismith Award, both given to the nation's top player.
Wright curently needs 11 steals to catch Pace Mannion for third all-time at Utah despite only playing two seasons. This year he ranks second in the Pac-12 in steals, 17th nationally, as well as assist-to-turnover ratio and free-throw percentage. Wright sits third in the league in assists, 34th nationally, and seventh in field-goal percentage. The senior also ranks among one of the league leaders in blocks (11th) and scoring (12th).
