Around The Hill: The Week that was at The U

The school year is winding down, basketball has ended, football is in spring practices and it's basically just baseball and softball at this point. Here's a wrap up of some news that happened this past week.

Baseball:

Big Innings Lead Utah Baseball to 14-5 Win Over Southeastern Louisiana - The Official Athletic Site of the University of Utah
The Utah baseball team erased an early 5-1 deficit to rally to beat Southeastern Louisiana, 14-5, on Saturday afternoon. Since last week, the baseball team lost the finale to ASU, and have split with Southeastern Louisiana. They finish out the SLU series Sunday afternoon. The Pingin' Utes next take on UVU and Stanford this next week.

Softball

Bowen, Utes Top Beavers 7-5 on Saturday - The Official Athletic Site of the University of Utah
Freshman Heather Bowen went 3-for-3 with a home run and a pair of runs batted in to help guide the Utah Utes to a 7-5 win over the Oregon State Beavers in Pac-12 play Saturday afternoon at OSU Softball Complex.

The win over OSU was a big one for the Utes, with the win over the Beavers the Utes clinch the series, which is the third consecutive Pac-12 series win. The Utes have won the first two games of the OSU series, with the finale coming on Sunday. This next week, the Utes will take on Arizona in Salt Lake City.

Track and Field

Howerton-Davis Second in Discus for Utah Track at Weber Invite - The Official Athletic Site of the University of Utah
Senior Destanae Howerton-Davis captured second in the discus to lead the Utah track and field at the Weber State Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

Men's Tennis

Utah Suffers 4-1 Loss to No. 62 Washington - The Official Athletic Site of the University of Utah
The University of Utah men's tennis team (10-11, 0-5 Pac-12) was defeated by No. 62 Washington (11-9, 1-4 Pac-12) Friday at Coach Mike's Tennis Academy. The Utes struggled to find success in singles after dropping the doubles point and sophomore Parker McGuiness netted Utah's solo point.

Women's Tennis

No. 59 Utah Women's Tennis Topped By No. 4 UCLA - The Official Athletic Site of the University of Utah
The 59th-ranked University of Utah women's tennis team (9-13, 3-6 Pac-12) was defeated by fourth-ranked UCLA (18-3, 8-1 Pac-12) 7-0 today at The Los Angeles Tennis Center

Golf

Utah Golf Improves to Eighth-Place Finish at Redhawk Invitational - The Official Athletic Site of the University of Utah
The Utah golf team wrapped up action at the Redhawk Invitational at the Chambers Bay Golf Club Tuesday. A three-round score of 914 (296-304-314) earned the squad eighth place while junior Jonathon Thomas continued to lead the Utes in player standings.

Soccer

Utah Soccer Continues Spring Season - The Official Athletic Site of the University of Utah
Utah soccer continued its spring season with a 1-0 loss to USC this past weekend at Heritage Park in Henderson, Nev.
