Former Utah CB/S Eric Rowe is selected in the 2nd round pick 47 by the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles traded up from the 20th pick in the 2nd round to take Rowe. Eagles head coach has a penchant for drafting former Pac-12 players. So far in the 2015 NFL Draft, Kelly has taken two Pac-12 players, USC wide receiver Nelson Agholor and Rowe.
Rowe to the Eagles was not surprising. Kelly appeared in person at Utah's Pro Day, and the Eagles have a big need in their secondary. The former Ute is a great addition since he has experience at both free safety and cornerback. Rowe is big and fast and fits in the mold of the Seattle "Legion of Boom" corners that have become very popular in the NFL witht he success that the Seattle defense has had.
Rowe was near the top in nearly every statistical category for defensive backs at the NFL Combine, posting incredible numbers for a 6' 1", 205 player: 4.45 40-yard dash, 6.70 3-cone drill, 39-inch vertical and 125-inch broad jump. With his size and athleticism, Rowe matches up well with big NFL receivers on the outside. He will immediately help upgrade the Philadelphia defense.
