Utah Football's Jared Norris named to the 2015 Bednarik Award watch list

Robert Hanashiro-USA TODAY Sports

Utah's senior, tough nosed lined backer, Jared Norris has been named to the 2015 Bednarik Award watch list. The Bednarik Award is given each year to the nations defensive player of the year. Norris joins Devontae Booker on a pre-season watch list, with Booker being named to the Maxwell list. Last year's Bednarik Award winner is fellow Pac-12er from Arizona Scooby Wright.

Here's an excerpt from the press release from the Utah AD:

Norris, Utah's leading tackler a year ago with 116 stops, finished third in the Pac-12 in tackles per game (8.9) and was fourth in total tackles (116). He was named honorable mention All-Pac-12 and was the Las Vegas Bowl Defensive "Out-Performer" of the game. Norris has started since his sophomore season.

Norris doesn't get the praise or make the highlight plays, like a Gionni Paul, but he's as steady of a player as there is in the country. With the type of d-line Norris Has in front of him, he should be able to roam around and make some plays on this stout Utah defense.
