The 2014 Ray Guy Award winner will look to defend his trophy, as Utah punter Tom Hackett has been named to the 2015 watch list for the same award. Hackett joins fellow Utes Devontae Booker, Jared Norris, Siaosi Aiono and Andy Phillips on pre-season watch lists.
Hackett was a big weapon for the Utes last season, as he was constantly able to flip the field, and pin opponents deep in their own territory, and that looks to be the case in 2015.
Here is an excerpt from the press release from the Utah AD.
Hackett, the first Ray Guy Award winner in Utah and Pac-12 history as a junior in 2014, was also a consensus All-American, earning first-team honors from Walter Camp, the Associated Press, AFCA and FWAA and making the Sporting News second team. He led the nation in punts inside the 10 (19) and punts inside the 20 (36). He was third in the nation and first in the Pac-12 in punt average (46.7) and led the nation in total punt yards (3,736). He broke his own school records for punt yards in a season (3,736) and total punts (80).
