Alex Smith's Head will Haunt Jim Harbaugh Thursday Night

John Rieger-USA TODAY Sports

Around the University of Utah, Alex Smith is kind of a big deal. I mean, he did lead the Utes to the Fiesta Bowl in 2004-05, was a Heisman Trophy finalist, was the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft, and has his name on the Utah strength and conditioning center. So when it comes to hallowed names at The U, Alex is on the list.

Well, fast forward a couple of seasons ago in the NFL, Alex Smith got injured in a game with the 49ers and Jim Harbaugh, the then-head coach of the '9ers and the current coach of the Michigan Wolverines, decided that Colin Kapernick should assume the role of starter from that point forward. That decision split the 49er fan base, and ticked off a ton of Utah fans. Now with Harbaugh coming into Rice-Eccles Stadium in his first game of his Wolverine career, Utah fans are going to haunt the man in khakis with a bunch of heads of Alex Smith.

These tweets confirm that:

This reaffirms my love for college football, and I hope I can get my hands on an Alex Smith head on a stick.

Can Thursday night come any faster?
