After a year off, the Utes will be playing in an in-state showdown with the Utah State Aggies. It kicks off at Rice-Eccles Stadium, and it is a very interesting game. Utah is coming off of a big win over Michigan, where they were no doubt the better team. Although, it was apparent that there were things to work on during and after that game. While the offense is looking improved, running blocking could be improved a bit to allow Devontae Booker some room to run. Third down efficiency can be improved. Lastly, the big play down field is also needed to really help open up the field for Utah's rushing attack.
For USU, the question is, how close to the performance that they had versus Southern Utah was real? USU needed a punt return for a touchdown to beat SUU - not an ideal scenario for a team looking to win the Mountain West. Will USU's protection issues show up versus the Utes? Will Chuck look the same as Chucky from a couple years ago. Will Utah State's stout defense slow down Devontae Booker?
It's said that the most improvement is made from week one to week two of the season. We'll see that right now!
