Utah volleyball starts Pac-12 play this week. Utah women's soccer team has earned a NSCAA Team Academic Award. The Utah women's basketball schedule was announced this week as well. Utah softball had their first game was postponed due to weather. Egbert Weverink won the Bobcat Invitational for Utah men's tennis.
The 2016 schedule for the Utah Red Rocks gymnastic team was announced yesterday. Utah will face two likely top 10 opponents in nonconference: Georgia and Michigan. Utah will also have nine meets televised on the Pac-12 Network. The Saturday, Jan. 23 meet against Oregon State, with a start time of 3 p.m. MT, is believed to be the first regular-season home meet matinee in school history. The Red Rocks return nine letterwinners, and five All-Americans. Fans will get their first chance to see the 2016 Utes at the annual Red Rocks Preview on Friday, Dec. 11 at 7 p.m. in the Huntsman Center, which is a free event to attend.
Utah women's volleyball (6-5, 0-0 Pac-12) opens Pac-12 play this week, hosting the Colorado Buffs (8-4, 0-0 Pac-12) this Wednesday, Sept. 23 at 6 p.m. MT and then traveling to Pullman, Wash., this Saturday, Sept. 26, to take on the Washington State Cougars (11-1, 0-0 Pac-12) at 7 p.m. PT. Utah wrapped up the nonconference portion of their schedule on Thursday with a home loss to rival BYU (16-25, 18-25, 22-25). Utah led the match with 42 kills to BYU’s 36, but the Cougars finished the match outhitting the Utes, .284 to .094 and out-blocked the home squad, 14.0 to 4.0, in total team blocks, which was enough to lead them to victory in the Deseret First Dual match-up.
Utah soccer (3-3-3) opens Pac-12 play on Friday against No. 8 Stanford (6-2-0). Kick-off is scheduled for 4 p.m. and the game will be televised live nationally on the Pac-12 Network. This contest will also serve as the Ute Proud game. The team has earned a NSCAA Team Academic Award after another successful year in the classroom, by earning a cumulative team GPA of over 3.0 (3.41). Utah finished third in the Pac-12 behind Stanford (3.47) and Arizona State (3.45). It is the sixth year the Utah soccer team has won the award. Utah head soccer coach Rich Manning with earn career victory No. 150 with one more win this season.
The University of Utah women's basketball schedule was announced this week. 10 of the team's regular-season games televised live on the Pac-12 Networks during the 2015-16 campaign of first-year Head Coach Lynne Roberts.
Utah softball had their opener versus Salt Lake Community College postponed until Sept. 29 due to inclement weather. Utah’s home schedule will now begin with Utah Valley (Sept. 24) and be followed by contests against Colorado State (Sept. 26), SLCC (Sept. 29), Idaho State (Oct. 2) and Weber State (Oct. 8).
Sophomore transfer Egbert Weverink won the Bobcat Invitational for Utah men's tennis. It was his singles debut for Utah. The men's tennis team has the Utah Intercollegiate meet this weekend.
