While there are no new commits, there is reason for optimism for Utah football recruiting. The 62-20 win over the Oregon Ducks that propelled Utah into the top 10 in the AP Poll has brought a lot of excitement to the Utah football program. Many of Utah's current commits were ecstatic about the big win (you can see a few Tweets below).

These Tweets from Hallandale (Hallandale, Fla.) wide receiver and Utah commit Demari Simpkins (high school teammates with Huntley) is cause for optimism.

A couple names to watch are South Florida cornerback commit North Florida Christian (Tallahassee, Fla.) Armunz Matthews and University Christian (Jacksonville, Fla.) cornerback Hussein Howe, who will both take official visits to Utah for the game against Arizona State. Hallandale HS has plenty of talent (including the two Utah commits in Huntley and Simpkins), the top prospect being four-star wide receiver and Florida commit Joshua Hammond.

With Utah on a bye week this week, it will give coaches the opportunity to do some recruiting. Hopefully the coaches can use some of the momentum from the big win to help land some recruits over the bye week.

Two powerhouses in Florida that both have at least one Utah commit faced off on Friday. St. Thomas Aquinas topped Hallandale 36-28. Despite the loss, Huntley had a fantastic game, throwing for 468 yards and four touchdowns against a defense that features a five star recruit (defensive end Nick Bosa) and several other defenders that will likely play D1 football. You can read more about the game in this article from the Miami Herald. Here's a video of Huntley in that game.
