The college football season will come to an end tonight when SEC Champion No. 2 Alabama (13-1) takes on ACC Champion No. 1 Clemson (14-0) tonight at 6:30 p.m. MT on ESPN at University of Phoenix Stadium for the second College Football Playoff National Championship. Clemson defeated Oklahoma 37-17 in the Orange Bowl semi final game. Alabama beat Michigan State 38-0 in the Cotton Bowl semi final game.
If Clemson wins, it would be the Tigers' first national title since 1981, and Clemson would become the first team to go 15-0. An Alabama win would give head coach Nick Saban his fourth national championship at Alabama (fifth overall) and his first since 2012. Alabama is led by Heisman Trophy winning running back Derrick Henry and a stellar defense. Clemson is led by Davie O'Brien Award winning quarterback DeShaun Watson. Alabama is favored by 7 despite Clemson's perfect season. Clemson was also an underdog against Oklahoma. After a disappointing semi final round, here is to hoping for a more competitive championship game. Join us here at BlockU to discuss the game.
