The first regular season college gymnastics rankings are out, and the Utah Red Rocks (1-0) are tied for No. 7 (196.175) with Auburn and George Washington. The Red Rocks opened the 2016 season with a win at home over BYU. Gymnastics rankings are based on a team's average score. These rankings will change quite a bit over the coming weeks as teams have more meets. The scores are lower this year compared to last year, partially because of the change to vault scoring. Michigan and LSU are tied for No. 1 (196.950). The Red Rocks are the second highest ranking Pac-12 team behind No. 5 UCLA (196.550). Arizona (No. 10), California (No. 11), Oregon State (No. 12), and Stanford (No. 22) are also ranked from the Pac-12. Utah's final regular season opponent Georgia checks in at No. 15. The Red Rocks also have to travel to No. 1 Michigan this season. You can see the full rankings here.
The Red Rocks will be in action again on Friday at Southern Utah (who is ranked No. 30) at 7 p.m. MT.
