Carlson adds to Utah’s 2017 recruiting class, which also includes Hyrum (Utah) Mountain Crest three-star small forward Jaxon Brenchley. Carlson did not receive his first offer until April of this year, but he has come on strong as of late and reeled in some nice offers before committing to the Runnin’ Utes. In a video posted to YouTube (which is below), Carlson indicates that he will go on an LDS Church Mission right out of high school.

Utah has shown how well they can develop athletic big men under head coach Larry Krystkowiak, with players like Jakob Poeltl playing in the NBA for the Toronto Raptors.
