Utes move up to 16 in the AP Poll, stay at 16 in the Coaches Poll

NCAA Football: Washington at Utah Russ Isabella-USA TODAY Sports

It turns out losing to Washington on Saturday really didn’t hurt the Utes at all, in the grand scheme of things. The Utes still control their destiny in the Pac-12 South for a potential Rose Bowl birth, but they also still have an outside (granted a very outside chance) at making a run for a College Football Playoff birth, if they run the table, win the Pac-12 Championship, and get a lot of help. The Utes are now 16th in both polls this week, after moving up in the AP Poll. Of course, the big College Football Playoff poll comes out on Tuesday, so we’ll see how far off the Utes are. It’ll be interesting to see how similar the CFP Poll is from the other two polls. The Utes have been ranked in every CFP Poll to date, and figure to be ranked in the teens in the first one this year.

Here are the updated AP and Coaches Polls.
