Utah’s RPI isn’t going to be good when the out of conference season ends, but Utah is getting some valuable time trying to figure some things out, and they took another step to that in a 85-67 win over UC Riverside on Friday night. It wasn’t the Utes best effort, as their 14 turnovers, that UCR was able to score 20 points off of, kept the game a lot closer than it needed to be.
A couple of Utes did have a career game, as Lorenzo Bonam put in 21 points and 10 rebounds, while Devon Daniels had 14 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Kyle Kuzma had 18 points of his own. The Utes were pretty efficient on the night, shooting 50% from the floor, but only 30% from deep. The Utes have to find consistency there or else they are going to struggle. On defense, the Utes have been solid thus far, and tonight they held UCR to 36% shooting, but did give up 47% shooting from beyond the arc. Plenty to work on as the Utes get ready for a tough Butler team this coming week, a Butler team that is giving Arizona fits (as of this writing).
