Utah has been on fire in the recruiting game over the past week or two, and it has kicked up a notch on Wednesday night with the commitment and mid year signing of 4-star safety Corrion Ballard of Blinn College. The 6-foot 2-inch safety had offers from Nebraska, Texas Tech and Ok State, and those three schools were all finalists for Ballard’s services, along with Utah.

The signing of the safety is at minimum an insurance policy if Marcus Williams decides to head to the NFL, at best, the Utes just bolstered their safety depth with the addition of Ballard. Ballard is hoping to join the lineage of “Safety Pride” under Morgan Scalley, and no doubt this kid has the tools.
In his highlights below, the JC standout shows a great instinct to break on the ball, and is a great “center field” type of safety. He also shows the ability to lay the wood, which is something you love to see from a safety, as well as some athleticism and ball skills when he does have an interception, as well as a blocked field goal.
Here are some highlights:
The Utes are still in play for a lot of other high profile recruits, and hopefully this signing and announcement continues the snowball effect of bringing in those players.
