It wasn’t the best of news for Utah fans on the day after Christmas as news broke that Domo Hatfield will not be playing in his final game as a Ute in the Foster Farms Bowl against Indiana.
Coach Whittingham told the media yesterday that Hatfield would miss the game because of violating team rules, and it’s been emphasized that it is not a legal or academic issue. There were some serious questions when Domo tweeted out a week or so ago that there was a 99% chance he wouldn’t be playing in the bowl game, a tweet that he would later delete. It has not been released what kind of rule Domo broke.
Coach Whitt did say that this would have resulted as a one game suspension in the regular season, and Domo would have remained with the team. Hatfield did travel with the team to San Francisco, but will have to be a spectator.
Hatfield recorded 30 tackles and one pick this season, and 108 tackles during his career with six interceptions.
